"...One of Walla Walla's value superstars," says critic Paul Gregutt; "...one of Washington's outperfoming labels," says the San Francisco Chronicle and on of the paper's Top 100 Wines of 2009. 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Amavi's Cabernet contitutes almost three quarters of the winery's total production, and it's a gem. The aromas of fresh bread dough waft over dark plum and berry fruit. Baking spices, dark chocolate, and a streak of coffee runs through it. A lush mix of Walla Walla fruit styles, but the wine leans to the darker, smoky side of Cabernet. Cellar worthy." Amavi Cellars is one of those top-notch wineries that should be on everbody's radar, though somehow it always seems that this incredible Washington producer gets overshadowed by high-profile California wines. What that means for you is a lot of wine for not a lot of money. The 2007 Cab is the perfect example. Wonderfully balanced, this wine has high tone cherry and sweet blackberry aromas with subtler scents of cedar and rose. In the mouth, ldark fruit, herbs, spice and cocoa are layered like sedimentary rock, overlapping and integrating at key junctures. Sophisticated, drinkable now and built to last, this is a heck of a lot of wine for less than $30."

88 points "An unusual, somewhat muted nose that initially shows more Syrah components of earth and game than aromas associated with Cabernet. Fruit aromas jump out occasionally but then recede. Spice, particularly anise and white pepper, start to emerge over time. A rich, focused taste that packs a wallop with fruit and spice. Grainy tannins provide texture and structure. Recommend an additional six months bottle age. 81% Cabernet, 12% Merlot, 5% Syrah, 2% Cab Franc. "
