"Welcome to Patagonia, Argentina’s extreme southern frontier. Here at the edge of the Earth, icy-cold Antarctic winds produce uniquely tight clusters of tiny, thick-skinned grapes — and reds of serious color and flavor. The Schroeders have braved the elements since 1927 and win regular golds and 90+ Wine Advocate scores for wines “reminiscent of top quality Bordeaux” … wines “master sommeliers should love.” Judges at this year’s International Wine Challenge loved the family’s barrel-aged 2009, praising its “rich black truffle” flavor. See also: Big coffee and chocolate nose. Sumptuous depth of fruit on the palate and a looooong toasty finish."
