96 points "Here is another of Ray Coursen's intense and delicious wines. His two labels are named after his children: Elyse, his daughter, and Jacob Franklin, his son. The latter are some of the most fascinatingly unbridled and intensely gregarious examples of the varietals I've experienced. He sources most of the fruit from three properties: Hayne Vineyard, Chavez-Leeds, and Howell Mountain. Production is always small and the wine has built up a significant following among those looking for amazing Petite Sirah. The wine is an opaque purple-black with a beautifully deep, intense nose of pure black fruits, java and bacon fat. The palate is full of black currant, blackberries, macerated cherry and roasted coffee with hints of herb laced grilled meat. The texture of the wine is silky smooth and balanced leading to a finish that lasts nearly 60 seconds. Decant for an hour before drinking. Drink: 2008-2015." Best 2008-2015
