"Color: dark; Nose: intense; Acidity: lively; Body: full-bodied; Overall: bold; Dark fruits, earthy taste. Little nose, disagreed with mint jelly but came back after dinner very well - good to drink without food"

" An established star of Stellenbosch, Rust en Vrede has created another stupendous wine in 2001, this one a blend of 53% cabernet sauvignon, 35% shiraz and 12% merlot. Varietals are separately (micro-) vinified and left to mature in 300-liter French and American oak barrels for 18 months. The wines are then blended and bottled and, after a further 12 months of bottle-maturation, released. Aromas of ripe blueberry, black currant, cassis and mint pave the way for flavors of more dark berries, subtle oak and silky, integrated tannins. Great aging potential, too. This one is always highly rated by Spectator."
