93 points "The 2009 Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Matthew's Block is purple black to the edge. Wildly opulent aromatically, infused with blackberry and mountain blueberry preserves, sweet herbs and new wood vanilla. The attack is absolutely massive, a huge mouthful of crushed black fruits, cloaked in velour, still braced by textbook Pritchard Hill tannins. Drink now for its luscious youthful bombast or lay down for 12-15 years. Very aromatic and inviting nose filled with dark cherry, currant and sweet barrel tones. The dark cherry, cassis, and creamy/sweet oak notes carry through into the palate. The natural acidity of thewine highlights the distinctive cherry profile of the vineyard. Fruit is framed by a very sturdy and age worthy tannin structure, which is reflective of the extremely rocky vineyard site. The extended barrel aging adds a touch of creaminess to the length and finish of the wine. This wine is concentrated and true to the rocky conditions of Pritchard Hill. With time this wine should develop beautifully." Best 2015-2025
