93 points "Ok so there’s been a bit of talk about the 2007 Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz … but that’s last year’s news. Time to take a look at the 2008. Ah yes, what a joy of a drink. This has the vibrancy and spiciness that has me reaching straight for the word ‘exotic’. It’s all cherries and plums, mint and licorice, and while you’d hardly call it intense, it’s definitely high in charm. French oak gives it a gentle nudge, and everything about the wine is pure and clean. Very happy with this release; it’s a beauty. 91 points "It’s a funny thing to say but Clonakilla’s Hilltops shiraz has been the flagbearer of the (Hilltops) region for a decade or so now. Always look forward to tasting it. I’m not raving over this release but I do think it’s very good. Juicy, easy to drink and to like, satiny-textured and not too heavy. Burgundian shiraz, as they say. Cherries and mulberries, integrated toasty/spicy/nutty oak and a sweet, berried, gently stalky finish. Satisfying length. Satisfying, if ight-ish, intensity. Simply, a beautiful wine to drink. Stylish." Best 2014-2020

95 points "Full purple-crimson; the bouquet has spice, blackberry and black cherry in the vanguard, the medium-bodied palate following with black fruit flavours, but adding licorice and tannins, the latter needing to soften a little; the oak is, as ever, well balanced and integrated. " Best -2028
