" The idea behind Innocent Bystander is to produce great value, food friendly wines from various sources in Central Victoria. Central Victoria is much cooler than the traditional planting grounds for Aussie Shiraz. Here the fruit ripens slowly. It's a bit of a struggle in fact. But when it does ripen, the resulting wine bears more than a slight resemblance to those elegant reds of the northern Rhône. White pepper, violets and blueberries are in abundance, with a chewy but not tannic finish. 97% shiraz and 3% viognier, aged in older French oak barriques."

"The 2003 Shiraz/Viognier offers an exotic marmalade and black currant-scented nose, medium body, no hard edges, plenty of fruit, little oak, and a lovely finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. This screw cap-finished offering reveals good flavor, an up-front, fruity personality, and limited aging potential.
