"Bright medium ruby. Black fruits lifted by a peppery topnote. Dense, powerful and chewy, with extravagantly concentrated and impressively penetrating flavors of blackberry and pepper. Firm acids give this terrific definition and vinosity. Finishes extremely long, with sweet tannins and good peppery lift. Just the third vintage from this vineyard, which was planted in 1885, and as superlative as the first two."

"From the limestone soils of Paso Robles, the 2004 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard (planted in the late 19th century) exhibits abundant structure and freshness as well as superb fruit, full body, and powerful briery, raspberry, peppery, herbal components with a decided kirsch liqueur-like note and striking minerality. This stunning effort is one of the more backward 2004 Zins. Amazingly, its 16.2% alcohol is completely hidden"
