"Intense and rustic, with dense, chewy tannins that dominate the core wild berry and chocolate, with hints of nutmeg and cedar, turning austere and dry on the finish. Best to decant. Best from 2007 through 2013. –JL"

"A colossal Petite Syrah is the 2007 Hayne Vineyard. Its opaque purple color is followed by an extraordinary perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, camphor, and crushed rocks. It is enormously endowed and extremely powerful, with teeth-staining extract, and an amazing finish that lasts nearly a minute. This is truly great Petite Syrah, but purchasers should be prepared to cellar it for 8-10 years, and watch it unfold brilliantly over the following 25-30. (95-97)."
