"This serious, complex, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Syrah reveals a lovely perfume of licorice, acacia flowers, ground pepper, cassis, and blackberries. A beautiful integration of wood gives the wine elegance as well as a savory character. With loads of fruit, an expansive mouthfeel, a silky texture, and fine balance, this lovely, nuanced Syrah should drink nicely for 5-7 years.

"This is more elegant and lighter in weight than the 2003 (97 pts.,W&S 8/06), with exotic scents of game, fir, manzanita and peppercorns. The finish is cool and dynamic. For now, the wine is extreme, though it could be tempered by salume or cellar time. "
