97 points "Full red-purple; concentrated, ripe, cassis and blackberry fruit leaps from the glass, with oak present but trailing behind. The palate is as rich, ripe, succulent and concentrated as the bouquet suggests, redolent with cassis, and long, lingering tannins. Rating 97 Drink 2016 Date Tasted Mar 99 " Best 2010-2016

96 points "Deeply scented, highly accentuated and translucent fruit is perfectly married with smoky cedar and vanilla oak in this powerful wine of rare balance, tightness and elegance. Perfectly ripened and mouthfilling cassis, blackberry and plum fruit of piercing length and intensity finishes lightly sour with a simply unbelievable cut of firm, powdery tannins. A great wine. (19.5, Drink 2016+, $100 retail, approx.)" Best -2016

96 points "What a massive monster of a wine. What a long way it has to go. Tasted this again in July 2005, and it’s still at least five years from any kind of maturity: gravel, chocolate, flytox, blueberries, and a growling thump of caramel. This is a wicked wine. It’s got dimension and weight and an expansive view of the future it’s not looking to the next election, it’s looking beyond. It’s intimidating. Rated : 96 Points Drink : 2009-2022 " Best -2022
