"89-91 points: My hope is that American importers will pick up on the great value offered by this lower level St. Emilion. I previously extolled the virtues of the 1998, and the 2000 Pipeau is as good, although thicker and more tannic. A fruit bomb deluxe, it offers a sexy combination of blackberry, black raspberry, and cherry fruit, with subtle oak in the background. Medium-bodied, with silky tannin, and a layered, fat, rich personality, it is a wine to drink during its first decade of life. It is a sleeper of the vintage as well as a superb value."
