95 points "The 2007 Grenache, of which there will be 250 six-packs, is right up there with the compelling Grenaches of Sine Qua Non. Stunning kirsch liqueur, floral notes, loamy soil, forest floor, and spice box are all present in the highly complex, rich, full-bodied, powerful Grenache. I am sure it’s high in alcohol, although certainly none can be detected in the mouth, and the cascade of fruit and richness are remarkable. This is a stunner that should prove to be one of the finest Grenaches John Alban has made. It should also drink well for at least a decade. (95-97)." Best -2020

91 points "Deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of black cherry and black raspberry. Large-scaled and utterly mouthfilling, with a wonderful chocolatey richness leavened by ripe acidity. In fact, this huge wine offers surprising mid-palate delineation offlavor for its outsized ripeness. Finishes with very ripe tannins and excellent length. "It was critical to eliminate the raisins," noted Alban. Indeed, as extravagantly ripe as this is, it's not at all cooked. There's very little grenache from elsewhere in California with the saturation of color of Alban's fruit. "

93 points "The 2008 Grenache is just plain beautiful at this stage. A striking bouquet redolent of dark red fruit, flowers and spices melds into a core of textured fruit. This is all purity and finesse. I can hardly wait to taste the finished wine. This is very fresh for a wine that has been in barrel for nearly three years. The 2008 Grenache is 98% Grenache and 2% Syrah. (93-95)."
