94 points "Color: dark; Nose: complex; Acidity: lively; Body: tannic; Overall: well balanced; Very well structured wine! In fact I have never had a bad experience with this Chateau! Even their second wines are awesome. This one seems to be on it peak now. If you have doubts, simply pop it open. U will not regret!"

94 points "Beautiful, with lots of blackberry and currant, hints of toasty oak and fresh mushroom. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. This shows really well. Very ripe. Serious. Long and in harmony. 65 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 29 percent Merlot, 4 percent Cabernet Franc and 2 percent Petit Verdot. "

"92-94 points: A brilliant effort from proprietor Alfred Tesseron, Pontet-Canet’s 2004 may ultimately prove to be a better wine than its more famous neighbor, Mouton Rothschild. Medium to full-bodied with a classic creme de cassis-scented perfume, sweet fruit, ripe tannin, tremendous purity, and a personality that suggests no manipulation, no nonsense, and hard work in both the vineyard and winery, this beautiful Pauillac should age for 2-3 decades. It is one of the most concentrated and potentially long-lived wines of the vintage..."

4 stars "Deep, intense colour, richly concentrated nose, quite earthy and blackcurrant, a lot of elegance behind the concentration and a fine lift of florality to the fruit, very good balance and length. Drink 2012-30. (18 points)" Best 2012-2030

90 points "Backward and powerful for the vintage, this blue/purple-colored 2004 exhibits classic creme de cassis, smoke, incense, and spring flower characteristics. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and excruciatingly tannic, this impressively endowed Pauillac is built for the long haul. However, patience will be required." Best 2014-2025
