"Bin 407 to me is the dark horse in the Penfolds Bin stable. It doesn't have the pedigree of Bin 389, nor the flash and dash of the Bin 28 or 138 (predominantly Barossa) or the single region idiosyncracies of the Bin 128. Yet, I'm consistently and pleasantly surprised each time I try a 407. This 02 was tasted over two days: upon decanting, it showed massive amounts of blackcurrant jube aromas. On the palate, definitely a Penfolds 'house style' from blending top fruit from various South Australian regions: Plushness from Barossa; herbs, mint & dust from Coonawarra. By day 2 it had settled into its skin: gorgeous chocolate oak flavours being well integrated with black plum and a lovely long tail of eucalypt/mint. Outstanding stuff. "
