"Castano Hecula is Monastrell (aka Mourvedre), grown at approximately 2000 feet elevation, in Yecla in central eastern Spain. Ramon Castano Santa and his three sons have always been committed making high quality dry red wine from Monastrell.
Color: Semi-opaque warm violet-ruby. Aromas: Cherry, smoky meat, and vanilla work in concert. The mouthfeel is gripping, with plenty of tart, firm tannins and dry gravelly dust. Sour tart cherry, pepper and nutty oak flavors resolve nicely in the finish.
Dry like a Chianti but without the long dry aftertaste.
