"A fabulous Zinfandel that reminded me of a Chateauneuf du Pape was the 2006 Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard. Another Paso Robles vineyard, very close to the limestone vineyards of Saxum, this wine tops the scales at 16.1% alcohol. It has an almost Chateau Rayas-like delicacy, with gorgeous kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with licorice, black raspberry, and cherry, and to me it tasted like a dead-ringer for an old-vine Grenache. The wine is full-bodied, opulent, and a super hedonistic as well as intellectual turn-on. It should drink well for 5-7 years. (92-95)."

"Ripe and zesty, with blackberry and cracked pepper aromas and concentrated yet lively wild berry, smoky meat and licorice flavors that finish with a touch of heat and rustic tannins. Drink now through 2013. –TF"
