" At first, the 2001 Westside is very spicy and fruity, very intense. But this wine has plenty of Big Fruit to go around. Strawberries, Blackberries and Bing Cherries combined with the initial Black Pepper make this an excellent Zinfandel. This is a very sophisticated and elegant wine yet, with very smooth (bordering on velvety) mouthfeel. Nice tannins and wood compliment this varietal. Aged for 14 months in French and American barrels. The Westside designation in the Paso Robles appellation is cooler than inland areas with warm mornings and a strong marine influence in the afternoons. The vines typically yield less than 3 tons to the acre!"
