Dark, ripe, plush and concentrated, a rustic style with layers of plum, wild berry and black cherry that pick up a nice mint and spice edge along with a dash of hazelnut from oak, finishing with dry, firm tannins.

While adhering to the themes of unabashed ripeness that are central to so many of Rosenblum's latest Zins, this very rich offering finds unexpected brightness and a nice bit of fruity energy coming through its more obvious elements of dark chocolate and raspberry jam. It is every bit as full in feel as it is in flavor, and its closing coarseness is the acceptable cost of its undisguised richness.
This rich exotic example of Mendocino Zinfandel is the product of superb old vine vineyards that are dry farmed and head pruned. It has been aged in new American and French oak barrels for 18 months before tasting.

Back Label Text :
This rich and exotic example of Mendocino Zinfandel is the product of superb old vine vineyards that are dry farmed and head pruned. It has been aged in new American and French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.
The wine shows a rich bouquet of ripe black currants, Asian spices and chocolate with flavors of dark cherries, fat blueberries and hints of licorice and pepper.
Newsletter Comments :
This wine comes from a rolling hillside vineyard just north of Ukiah. The red soil and cool climate allows for long hang time and slow, even ripening. This rich wine, despite its feminine name, is very muscular and shows rich blackberry, currant, chocolate and plums.

California Grapevine
November 2004
Medium-dark purplish ruby; attractive, forward, spicy, briary, sweet black raspberry fruit aroma with overtones of vanilla: full body; forward, big, rich, lush, concentrated, jammy, very ripe raspberry fruit flavors; well structured; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Shows distinctive varietal character in a very ripe style. Very highly recommended.

From this inland Mendocino appellation, a chocolatey Zin, with notes of cassis, coffee and cinnamon. Soft and luscious in texture, with a slightly sweet finish. Perfect with short ribs.

Mendocino zins tend to be firm and tough and indeed this is ripe, dense, chunky yet super-rich wine. Containing 16 per cent carignane and six per cent syrah. Also briny, meaty character amid plum and chocolate (aged 18 months in new French and American oak). Outstanding length."
