Tasting Notes:
rated: April 11, 2009 , Joe DiVito
""Deep, dense colour, meaty and earthy, very ripe and very fine old vine fruit with a touch of iron in the backbone, high quality, impressively individual wine." 4/5 stars (Decanter) "Explosive nose with a whiff of cordite and some burnt flavours. Full and sweet with relatively gentle tannins – a little soft and smudgy but lots of bang for the buck." (Jancis Robinson) "Two-thirds merlot and one-third cabernet franc. Bright ruby-red. Primary aromas of dark berries, black cherry, violet and mint. Big and broad; a step up in concentration from proprietor Jonathan Maltus's Teyssier, with sweet berry and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes with substantial broad tannins and plenty of fruit. 86-89." (Stephen Tanzer) "With wonderful balance, this wine builds in the glass. It is a lovely dark currant and mild caramel on the wash, surrounded by a fine tannic frame. An adult, savoury wine that evolves and opens in the glass." (Tomas Clancy, The Sunday Business Post) "The oak flavour here has an almost rummy note, but there are soft, cherry aromas, too. On the palate, the fruit is dense cherry and blackcurrant, with overt new oak and smooth, dark chocolatey tannins. There's a very firm minerally side to this, and good cherry length." (Wine International) " Best 2008-2014
