92 points "One of my favorite McLaren Vale wineries, Kangarilla Road offers very realistic prices for the quality of their wines. A good value, the 2004 Shiraz/Viognier is McLaren Vale’s version of a Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline. A blend of 92% Shiraz and 8% Viognier, this black-colored effort was aged 14 months in new French oak. A rich bouquet of pain grille interwoven with exotic spices, litchi nuts, violets, blackberries, and cassis soars from the glass of this fragrant, nearly ostentatious wine. In the mouth, there is dazzling ripeness, superb purity, an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a long, heady finish. This terrific Shiraz gracefully carries its 15% alcohol beneath layers of fruit and glycerin. Drink it over the next 7-8 years." Best 2005-2013

93 points ""Even better is the 2006 Shiraz - Viognier (8%). Kangarilla Road seems to have mastered this blend in which the Viognier component plays a significant rather than subsidiary role. The Viognier and Shiraz were co-fermented and aged for 14 months in new French oak. Opaque purple in color, the beguiling aromatics offer a kinkiness generally seen only in luxury cuvees such as Guigal`s La Mouline. Grilled meat, honey/floral elements, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur also play a role. Mouth-filling and rich, with layered, spicy black fruit flavors, all the components are in harmony. Although difficult to resist now, this tantalizing wine will drink well through 2021. It is a fantastic value (especially when you could buy three cases of this wine for the price of one bottle of La Mouline)."" Best -2021
