"Color: deep; Nose: complex; Aromas: spicy, woody, red berry, dried fruit; Acidity: supple; Sweetness: dry; Body: firm; Finish: medium; Overall: well balanced; I would not hold these any longer. Tannins are still grippy but the fruit is fading a tad, perhaps just a dumb phase?"

"Full red with a faint purple edge. Spicy, floral, dusty and peppery aromas of fresh cassis, raspberry and red cherry, with restrained vanillin oak. Ripe, smooth palate combines prune and currant flavors from slightly stressed fruit with brighter notes of stewed plum and small dark berries. Uncomplicated, sweet and firm."

" Number 66 of the Spectator's top 100 wines of 2003!!90 points Robert Parker: "Another good value, the 2001 The Footbolt Shiraz is a plump, plum, blackberry, and currant-flavored effort displaying hints of smoke, earth, and pepper. It is a well-balanced, medium to full-bodied, delicious Shiraz to drink over the next 5-7 years." (08/03)90 points and a Smart Buy designation from the Wine Spectator: "Bright and jazzy, with delicious blackberry and cherry and subtle touches of anise and pepper weaving through the lively, long finish. Drink now through 2010." (08/03)"
