94 points "94 points Antonio Galloni: "The 2013 Zinfandel Geyserville is every bit as fabulous from bottle as it was from barrel last year. Ripe and voluptuous on the palate - yet with a super-classic conception of structure, the 2013 offers superb depth and impeccable overall balance. Waves of dark red cherry, pomegranate, spice, tobacco lead to more savory/ferrous notes that develop in the glass. Saline notes give the 2013 much of its energy and vivacity. This is a tremendous effort from Ridge. As is my custom, I have included Ridge's Sonoma wines here for ease of reference. Readers should note that in 2012 Ridge did not produce their Historic Vineyard Series wines, as all the fruit was used for the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Monte Bello bottlings. Ridge fans can look forward to a number of special bottlings for the 2013 vintage, including a Monte Bello Historic Vines and Monte Bello Steep Terraces, both of which are shaping up to be magnificent. Unfortunately I was not able to taste the 2014 Lytton Springs on this visit, but I report back on that wine as soon as is practical." (06/2015) 93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Two Stars* Taking its accustomed place near the head of this year’s class, Ridge’s classic field blend is once again a wine of great depth and range, and one that comes with the demand for aging. It is fully ripe but never close to being too much and is loaded with deep, dark berry fruit, and it already shows highlights of dried flowers and sweet spice that presage increased complexity to come. It is weighty but impeccably balanced and quite long at the finish, and, given Geyserville bottlings’ stellar track record for aging, this one can be held with complete confidence for a good many years." (05/2015) K&L Notes: From their estate in Alexander Valley, the 2013 Ridge "Geyserville" was made from the old-vine Zinfandel fruit that's been the backbone of this classic wine since 1966. With the addition of a small amount of Carignane, Petite Sirah, and Mataro for structur e, Geyserville holds an amazing track record for aging potential, and will cellar for several decades. Winemaker Eric Baugher notes hints of bramble fruit, mint, and minerality in this vintage, underlined by a lively acidity. Pair this food-friendly elixir with a leg of lamb or a hearty stew. "
