"As a late ripening grape, Montepulciano benefits from hot summers that enable the grapes to reach full maturity. Montepulciano produces deeply colored wine with a soft, round texture and flavors of blueberry, plum, and blackberry. It can be lush, jammy and somewhat rustic, but with a richness and mid-palate that belie its affordable price tag. From better sites and with controlled yields, Montepulciano has gained recognition as much more than just a great value."
