"2007 Riesling
An extremely dry winter preceded the 2007 growing season. These unprecedented dry weather conditions continued throughout spring and into early summer making it necessary to supplement irrigation for maintenance of healthy grapevine status. Generally Riesling yields were marginally lower than in the 2006 vintage, but fruit quality was maintained across all Riesling growing districts in South East Australia
February was an extremely hot month which brought about earlier ripening of the grapes than is considered normal. Milder conditions prevailed during March with ideal cool nights to ensure that the Riesling grapes were picked at optimum field temperatures of less than 15 Degrees Celsius. The grapes selected for the 2007 Jacobs Creek Riesling were picked at ideal ripeness, varietal intensity, and acid balance, which is reflected in this attractive and refreshing wine style.
