"""You won't find many Cabernets of this depth and character at this price, or even double it. Although Paso Robles is a hotbed for Syrah these days (and in many instances deservedly so), Justin Vineyards and Winery has set the standard for quality there with its Cabernet and Cabernet blend. The 1997 Isosceles (95 points), a Bordeaux inspiration, made our Top 10 in 2000 (at spot No. 6), making it not only the best wine I've tasted from this area, but also one of the true stars from the spectacular 1997 vintage. Justin's 1998 Cabernets weren't up to par with those from 1997, and showed the weakness of that vintage. But the 1999 is very much in the mold of the '97 -- a dark, rich, plush wine, with thick, earthy currant, plum, mocha and blackberry fruit. It's long and complex, with the kind of tannins that bode well for the future. Act fast and you may be able to corner six bottles or a case. It should be enjoyed now through 2010"". Dark, rich and plush, with thick, earthy currant, plum, mocha and blackberry flavors that are sharply focused, long and complex, with a wall of ripe tannins on finish. Best from 2003 through 2010. 2,500 cases made. (JL)
