"Deep purple center, tending to a reddish purple border. On the nose, sweet black fruits (plum), with a strong scent of ink, toasty oak and cedar, a bit of menthol, sweet nutmeg and cocoa. On the palate this wine showed itself off with a silky smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, well balanced, not overly acidic, with moderate finishing tannins present after over an hour of oxygenation. The finish was long and elegant. The Aalto 2001 is a very very nice wine. "
