"A special wine shared on a special occasion...new years eve of the new millenium. It was the final wine of the night (others we had that night included 1985 Krug, LeFlaive Batard Montrachet 1990, Cheval Blanc 1989).
The colour was amber. It had great legs..hinting at its sugar content and viscosity. The nose had wonderfully complex, deep notes of caramel and honey. Nothing prepared me for the sensation that bursts on my palate. It was mouth filling, concentrated and full. the mid palate was incredible. it went on and on....
It was my first encounter with this golden nectar....and I will never forget it."

"99 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
January 1998
The 1988 is a backward-styled Yquem, built along the lines of the extraordinary 1975. With a honeyed, smoky, orange/coconut/pineapple-scented nose, this powerful wine possesses full body, layers of highly concentrated, extracted flavors, considerable botrytis, and a sensational finish. April 1995
Big and showy, rich and ripe, featuring sweet mango, pineapple and lime character. Full in body, with a long finish that reins in honey, dried apricot and toasted vanilla flavors. Drink or hold until at least 1998. 6,500 cases made.
