"91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Nuts and Bolts (Syrah) is a rich, textured wine layered with black fruit, licorice, leather and spices, all of which come together in a sumptuous fabric. This is another strong showing from Herman Story, although a little more complexity would be nice. Nuts and Bolts was made from a number of vineyards and aged 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 55% were new. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. " (08/11) "

"Drank this after finishing off a 2003 Saxum Broken Stones, 95 Parker, so any comparison is unfair. The Nuts and Bolts is still very young and is a big fruit bomb. Though not very polished it's still immensely enjoyable."

"Offers a complex mix of dark berry and spice, with wild berry and blackberry, pepper and cedar presented in a full-bodied yet elegant style, ending with juicy fruit flavors and integrated tannins. Drink now through 2012. 550 cases made. –JL
