"Perhaps the biggest sleeper in this portfolio is the Cotes du Rhone Les Violettes, which is primarily Syrah with small amounts of Roussanne and Viognier included in the blend. The 2006 is a mini-Guigal La Mouline. An exotic, fragrant bouquet of roses, lychee nuts, honeysuckle, cassis, and sweet cherries emerges from this fat, fleshy, deep, hedonistic effort. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years.
Andre Romero continues to turn out an impressive portfolio of wines. Several of his vin de pays fly under most consumer-s radar as one does not generally associate Bordeaux varietals with the southern Rhone."

"One of the best buys of this portfolio is the Cotes du Rhone Les Violettes, a blend of 80% Syrah and 20% white grapes. The 2004 Cotes du Rhone Les Violettes could be called the Southern Rhone’s La Mouline of Rasteau. A sexy perfume of acacia flowers, sweet creme de cassis, and blackberries soars from the glass of this round, medium to full-bodied, opulent, extroverted, explosively fruity, rich effort. This wine should be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years."

"Purple color, sweet and flowery nose, full-bodied with licorice aromas on the palate, followed by a long, velvety finish. A pleasure to drink."
