""Deep ruby-red. Deep, pungent aromas of black raspberry, cherry-cola, vanilla bean and potpourri. Sappy, palate-coating red and dark berry compote flavors are complicated by an exotic floral pastille quality and hints of clove and mocha. A distinctly rich and fleshy but energetic pinot, with the depth and structure to age. The finish hangs on with noteworthy tenacity and grip. " "

""The 2009 Pinot Noir Cuvee Alyce is the most intriguing of the 2009 Pinots. It boasts highly expressive, nuanced aromatics that meld into layers of fruit. Subtle earthy notes appear later, adding a deep, baritone register to the fruit. Today the tannins are a bit firm, but this is the most promising of the estate’s 2009 Pinots. This is a great showing. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (Feb 2012)" "

""The limited production 2009 Pinot Noir Cuvee Alyce comes from a totally dry-farmed vineyard planted with Dijon clones 115, 777 and 112 that had tiny yields of one ton of fruit per acre in 2009. These heavy clay soils produced a deep, rich, full-bodied Pinot with the deepest color saturation (dense ruby/purple) of any of these Pinots. The wine also possesses admirable fruit intensity and abundant notes of black currants, black cherries, raspberries, licorice and flowers. The oak is well-concealed and the wine is full-bodied, impressively endowed and potentially one of the finest Pinot Noirs Stephen Hansel has ever made. It should age effortlessly for a decade or more." Robert Parker, 92-95 Points "
