"August Wests 2010 Pinot Noir Rosellas wafts from the glass with fragrant red berries, flowers, spices, mint and sweet red cherries. Saline notes appear in the glass, adding an element of brightness that is intriguing. The 2010 possesses lovely depth and a focused, linear personality that captures the essence of this cooler, more northerly part of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Winemaker Ed Kurtzman describes 2010 as a year with a very cold summer, and frequent periods of fog and drizzle that led him to believe the fruit would never ripen. It did, of course, and these are very pretty wines, especially the Pinots. - Aug 2012
