"The 1999 vintage was rated a 92 by Wine Spectator. I have had both, and in my opinion the 2000 vintage is actually a bit crisper - I prefer it. Made from vines that are over 100 year old, this a must-have Chilean Cab. Here is what WS said:
90 Points - Wine Spectator
"Solid, modern style, with lots of muscular currant, cassis and
blackberry fruit harnessed by a
healthy dose of toast, mocha and dark chocolate. Nice coffee edge to
the finish. A bit of a brute
still, so let it mellow a touch more. Drink now through 2006. 5,000
cases made. (JM)"

"Reviewed by Wine Spectator (USA) 30-sep-2002. Rated 92 points and “Highly Recommended”.
Here is how this wine made from 100 year old vines is described: "Blackberry, spice and sanguine aromas surge from the glass, with a full-throttle palate of vivid blackberry and cassis fruit rushing forth. Muscular tannins quuickly take over on the finish, so be patient. An impressive late-release ’99 Cabernet. Best from 2003 through ____". "

"Color: dark; Nose: closed; Body: tannic; Overall: bold; Very Powerful. This one needs cellaring. Loads of ripe fruit with powerful tannins. Cassis and dark coffee beans on the nose with hints of cigar box."
