"It's only a matter of degrees, but this lacks a little of the power that's a hallmark of this line in the greatest years. It's still a complete wine in the usual Penfolds mould, emphasising ripe fruit, savoury barrel influence, good balance and ripe tannins. There's sweet blackberry, stewed raspberry and dark chocolate on the nose and palate, with toasty-sweet smoky oak folded in seamlessly. It has good depth and body, and a satisfying balanced palate. Good drinking with a chargrilled porterhouse."
