94 points "Pepper Tree Alluvius Semillon is from the Braemore vineyard (planted in the 1960s) and is made by Jim Chatto. I’ve tasted a number of Pepper Tree reds recently for the Big Red Wine Book and their standard has been very high. Can only conclude that Chatto is doing an outstanding job. Lots of acid but gorgeous texture too. It’s the texture that saves it. It’s lemony, tart, apple-like and sharp. Lots of length of course, but the level of acidity is challenging. I came away loving it though because despite all that, it still felt beautiful on my tongue. Needs a plate of fresh oysters though.
