Cannubi: Barolo
The Wine Report
Vintage: 2000
"Like a late-autumn sunset," said one panelist of the brick-orange wine. Aromas of cool, red cherry, rose petal and currant rose to the surface with elegant redolence. The full-bodied structure felt a bit "tight and subdued" but showed great promise for the future with refined cherry, wild mushrooms and black pepper lingering behind a structure of oak char and tannins as gentle fruit waltzed around the palate on the extended finish. Food Friendliness: For now, the austerity of those oaky tannins needs a medium-rare steak for balance.
