" Possibly the greatest Coppermine Road yet produced! Will it top the 93 points that Parker gave it last vintage? In a preview of what we think will be an exceptional review of the wine, wine writer Rober Parker calls this "one of the most serious efforts from the south." Nows your chance before the full review comes out and the wine disappears. The 2002 vintage in McLaren Vale is predicted to produce many exceptional wines despite lower than average yields in many of the vineyards. Upon release, d'Arenberg's Coppermine has a deep, vibrant red-purple color. The nose shows intense black currant fruit and subtle, cedary cinnamon spice and oak-derived aromas. On the palate, there are actual flavors of violet (Violet, you're turning violet, Violet) as well as mint, licorice and chocolate."

93 points
"Wine Advocate 93 pts. The 2002 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon may turn out to be even better than the 2001. A longer, cooler growing season has produced an inky/ruby/purple-hued wine with a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, graphite, blackberries, incense, roasted meats, and background vanilla. Full-bodied and well-extracted, it is clearly made from low yielding vines. Drink this heady, rich, layered Cabernet between 2008-2020.
Wine Spectator 89 pts. Firm, with a velvety feel to the fairly dense blackberry, currant and mint flavors, finishing with a mild bite of tannins. Best from 2006 through 2010. 500 cases imported. (HS)"
