" Les Vignes Frances is located adjacent to Beaune Clos des Mouches, near the border with Pommard, and is always a top vineyard. It also is always one of my favorite wines from Louis Latour, with bright cherry notes, good acidity and charm and balance. 2001 is a wonderful vintage for this wine, showing all of the finesse this vineyard is known for, and very pretty floral notes on the nose. This is a lot of wine for the money, and will age gracefully, although it has plenty of charm for drinking sooner. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer, 07/04)"
