"Pierre Rovani writing for the Wine Advocate: According to Gerard Boudot, this estate's winemaker, the 2001 Montrachet completed its malo-lactic fermentation as he was preparing to harvest the 2002s. Aromatically, this bold, rich wine bursts with spices and creamed pears. Lush, powerful, and deep, it expands on the palate, displaying intense pear, toast, anise, and mineral flavors. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2011."

"($522; four of seven barrels were new) Crystallized yellow fruits on the nose. Dense, sweet and very ripe; rich, chewy, large-scaled and powerful. Still an infant, but the wine's solidity and length are impressive. This has the structure of a red wine. Very strong juice, finishing with some youthful oakiness. The alcohol here is no higher than that of the Chevalier or Batard, notes Boudot, but this seems even more dense."
