"Seductive spicy blackberry, floral and licorice flavors are simply fantastic in a wine that's rich in flavor yet delicately balanced and elegantly styled. This magnificent young wine gushes with ripe, fleshy Cabernet flavors, and while the flavors run deep, it's the balance and suppleness of the tannins that let you savor the wealth of perfectly ripened grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2006 through 2012. 1,853 cases made. (JL)"

"The 2001 Les Pavots merits a score several points higher than it did last year, no doubt because it has recovered from bottling and continues to gain in the bottle. This 1,853-case blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot exhibits a floral, blueberry, blackberry, and licorice-scented nose with smoky black currants in the background. A wine of great richness with a distinctive Graves-like, scorched earth component to the flavors, this full-bodied, elegant, pure, well-delineated 2001 will benefit from another 1-3 years of cellaring, and should age nicely for two decades."
