"I am no expert on sparkling red wine, make no mistakes (I probably do), but I think Lincoln is. We both have a bottle of 2003 Hanging Tree Sparkling Shiraz to sample and I am very interested to see what he makes of it. For now though back to the wine in question - a Morris from Rutherglenn.
Dark red. Aromas of rich blackberry, licorice, chocolate, earth and spice. The smell gets me in. I like it. On the palate very full bodied with sweet berries, chocolate, licorice and spice. The sweetness, I suspect, is masking plenty of tannin. Some earthy flavours add complexity. Finishes with a liquered blackberry/cassis flavour. This is too sweet for my tastes making it difficult to drink more than a glass. It is a good wine though, and well made too. I reckon a lot of people would love it.
