Possessing tremendous finesse for a Zinfandel as well as surprising elegance given its 16.5% alcohol, the 2002 Zinfandel Mead Ranch Atlas Peak (400 cases) exhibits wonderful aromas of blueberries and blackberries, a distinctive smoky earthiness (probably due to the fact this vineyard is organically farmed and planted in red volcanic soil), admirable purity, and super palate presence. It should age beautifully for 7-8 years.
