"The usually more recalcitrant Clos de la Roche is much more open for inspection today than is the Clos St. Denis, and the 2004 vintage looks quite promising for this wine. The nose offers up a lovely blend of red and black plums, cherries, chocolate, venison, woodsmoke, mustard seed and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and showing some lovely creaminess on the attack, with a rock solid core of fruit, firm tannins, and good length and shape on the tangy finish. 2012-2025+...92-93+." "A very densely fruited and wonderfully complex nose redolent of plum, red fruits, earth, game, smoke, underbrush and spice hints introduce impressively concentrated, textured and precise medium full flavors that stain the palate while coating it on the solidly persistent finish. This too is a serious and cool effort that will require ample time to arrive at its peak though it’s not quite as structured as the Bonnes Mares...91." Burghound 1/04 "
