"This impeccably made wine...is 100% Merlot fermented in small open-top fermenters, punched down a la Burgundy, aged on lees, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It was sensational in 2000, and the 2001 is not far behind...the 2001 exhibits a saturated ruby/plum color as well as a bouquet of new saddle leather and copious quanitities of black fruits. Medium-bodied, with sweet tannin, abundant fruit and extract, and a nicely textured, expansive mid palalte and finish, it should be consumed over the next 10-12 years."
