"Good, classy nose. Black fruit and cedarwood. Terrific, luscious, blackberry fruit on the palate. A wonderful success. Amongst my favourites. Lovely opulent fruit to the end. Drink 2010-2020."

"92-95 points: One of the vintage's most impressive offerings, the 2004 Pavie-Macquin is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from a bio-dynamically farmed vineyard. It offers an inky/purple color as well as a sumptuous perfume of creosote, blackberries, cassis, incense, and a balsamic character. This full-bodied, rich 2004 is one of the most concentrated wines of the vintage with more texture than most. A brilliant effort, it admirably displays the high quality of this estate as well as its noble terroir. A wine for true connoisseurs, it should be at its peak between 2011-2025+."

"89-93 points: Good full ruby-red. Very minerally aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice, minerals, cocoa powder and violet pastille; seems quite cabernet in character. Then juicy and tightly wound in the mouth, with a low-pH texture. Precise flavors of black fruits, violet and minerals.."
