"This one is a Wow, just finished the bottle with some nice grilled veggies and a couple of spiced pork chops. Nice chocalate and coffee, hints of smoke. A real lucious mouth feel, just a wonderful full bodied wine, huge black fruit and a long finish. almost perfect.

"The sumptuous 2002 Emigre is a proprietary blend of old vine Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its inky/purple color is accompanied by aromas and flavors of lead pencil shavings, blackberries, blueberries, cassis, and licorice. Although it has a fabulous texture as well as a massive palate, it is neither over the top nor hot (even though it boasts 15.5% natural alcohol). The tannin is melted, but high. While this 2002 is impossible to resist at present, it should age well for 10-12 years, possibly longer. Kudos to proprietor Jonathan Malthus for his work in the Barossa."

"Rich in texture, almost Port-like in character, lavish in its ripe cherry and berry flavors, finishing so rich it feels sweet. A humdinger to admire, but better drink it with something equally muscular. Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Carignane and Muscadelle. Drink now through 2015. 2,000 cases made. (HS)"
