"The 2002 The Puzzle possesses a saturated ruby/purple hue as well as a primary, tight, but evocative bouquet of creme de cassis, earth, and a hint of new oak. This tannic, full-bodied, structured 2002 requires another 2-4 years of bottle age. Easily the equivalent of a top-notch second or third-growth Bordeaux, it should evolve for 15-20 years.

"A proprietary Bordeaux blend (mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a bit of Merlot and Petit Verdot included), the 2001 Puzzle is a firmly structured, tannic offering. While it is nearly impenetrable, gobs of fruit, significant depth, and a long, structured, firm finish are apparent. It tastes like a young Bordeaux rather than a typical North Coast California Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. Frankly, I would not touch a bottle for 6-7 years. It should last for two decades."
