"To describe Water Wheel as one of central Victoria's most predictable, consistent and dependable wineries is not to damn it with faint praise. On the contrary, this is fact and a great credit to winemaker Peter Cumming and family. The '06 shiraz is a most enjoyable drink: warm, generous, robust, satisfying and widely available at a resonable ask."

91 points "91 pts Robert Parker, Jr.'s The Wine Advocate #173 It offers a multi-dimensional perfume of cedar, tobacco, plum, anise, blueberry, and blackberry. Full-bodied, stacked and packed, this mouth-filling Shiraz has enough structure to evolve for several years but delaying gratification will prove difficult. 90 pts Wine Spectator Issue 6/15/07 Smooth, round and sharply focused to show off its licorice-infused blackberry and cherry flavors. A hint of pepper makes the finish even more interesting. 90 pts James Halliday 2008 Classic Water Wheel style, as honest as the day is long; blackberry and dark plum fruit with some spicy notes; the tannins fine but persistent, oak is a bit player. 88 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 2007 Ruby-red. Intensely floral, exotic aromas of red and blue fruits, violet, lavender and incense. Deep and chewy, with solid tannins framing raspberry and dark berry compote flavors. Gains weight on the long finish. Give this some time in bottle. "
