"A winery that is beginning to make some positive improvements, Domaine Alfred’s 2003 Syrah Chamisal Vineyard offers a dense purple hue along with interesting aromas of smoky barbecue spices. Muscular, firmly tannic, and slightly ungiving, with good fruit, purity, and texture, it will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age, and should last for 7-8."
