"This blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot performed much better than the estate’s 2001 Syrah, which was disappointing. The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2001 Proprietary Red exhibits a striking perfume of black raspberries, blueberries, and currants. With medium body, considerable elegance, and austere tannin in the finish, this Bordeaux-like effort will benefit from another 1-2 years of bottle age, and will evolve for 10-12 years.

"Lean and a bit stalky, with hard currant, cedar, earth and mineral flavors, finishing with a firm wall of chewy tannins. Hard to predict how this one will age, but it is concentrated and tannic. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2006 through 2012. 2,800 cases made."
